SCHOOL OF LEGAL STUDIES

The School of Legal Studies runs a variety of courses at various levels for different grades and classes of the Judiciary. Besides the Certificate Courses, the School offers consultancy services in the legal profession and general application of law in the society. The School currently has three (3) Departments. The courses of study offered in the departments are designed to meet the needs of the students at various areas of academic pursuits.

The courses available in the various departments arc as listed below:

Deportment of Civil Law
This is a two year Diploma Programme. The aim of the course is similar to Diploma in Sharia and Civil Law.

Entry requirements

Candidates must posses WASC/GCE, SSCE ordinary level with at least three (3) credits or Teachers Grade II certificate with credit in at least four (4) subjects in English language. Literature in English. I.R.S.. History. Hausa, Government. Economics or equivalent in not more than two sittings.

Department of Sharia and Civil Law
This is a two year Diploma course intended lo prepare students for future legal profession. It further helps to train judicial personnel at the middle and lower level. Most of the judicial personnel serving in Bauchi/Gombe States Judiciary arc products of this College viz. holders of the above Diploma certificate.

Entry requirements

Candidates must posses WASC/GCE. SSCE ordinary level with at least three (3) credits or Teachers Grade II ccrtificatc with credit in at leas! four (4) subjects viz:- English Language. Literature in English. I.R.S, History, Hausa, Government and at least a pass in Arabic Language in not more than two sittings.

Advanced Diploma in Legal Studies
This is a one year Advanced Diploma Programme intended to prepare students for further legal profession It serves to broaden the knowledge of serving Registrar
